In the very first issue of In Touch magazine (October 1973), the prediction for the upcoming fashion trend was the Kaftan.
Writer Jay Ross wrote how the kaftan suits any personality or mood. Men were "discovering the joy of an unfettered body and the luxurious sensation of a cloud of fabric drifting over the skin".
Dave Sands, In Touch photographer, got three handsome models for the fashion spread. Like my previous In Touch fashion post, occasionally one of the models would be nude while the other models were dressed.
Dan Trent was the fair-haired man who was an actor in addition to being a model. Michel Duvernay was the exotic Parisian model who appeared in a small part in Fellini's Satyricon thanks to his friend Hiram Keller. New Zealand was home to John Nicholson who was pursuing acting and modeling jobs.
The kaftans "range from rugged to sheer, from casual to elegant, from slinky to super-masculine". Super-masculine??? I'll admit there is something sexy about guys in kaftans. It's kind of like a guy in a kilt. You just know that underneath there might be a "surprise" for you.
I'm going to end this post with the quote Jay Ross opened up his article--- "...Into your tent I'll creep..."
These are great! They are like '70's Snuggies! I am totally getting my husband one.
